Britz offers the widest range of 2WD and 4WD campervans and cars for hire in Australia.
Well, that’s what their page says. Britz is the largest campervan company in Australia. They are everywhere, both in terms of depots and the vehicles that you will see on the road. They have the full range in size from the 2 person Toyota Hiace, through to the monster sized houses on wheels, complete with flushing toilets and showers. They only run their vehicles for 2 years before they pass them off. Of course they pass them off to their other companies Backpacker Campervans or Explore More. Did I mention Britz was big? Their parent company also owns Maui.
Anyway, you know you are going to get a well oiled machine when you go through a company this big, but you are also going to be paying for it. They are hardly the cheapest kid on the block, but they are going for those that value quality over price. Their vehicles are normally meticulously maintained and they spend a lot of time putting thought in to the design of their customizations. Their 4WD troop carriers are simply the best in the market when it comes to renting a 4WD. They are based off the Toyota Landcruiser troop-carrier and are then modified for sleeping 3 and kitchen facilities. The Toyota Landcruiser is the workhorse of the outback and have become that way due to reliability. The bright side is that this means there are spare parts just about everywhere in case of emergency. A 4WD is recommended if you want to go off road and get to some of the more remote places in Oz.
Britz have such a huge range you will find a vehicle that suits your need, it’s just a case of whether it fits your budget.
Go to the compare prices below and you will get a bunch of Britz results.
Cheers
Tim

Camping the Easy way!!!
by TotalTraveller402894AB66 Jun, 2009 As a FAMILY YOUNG CHILDREN
With four young children the concept of camping is quite daunting and Britz gave us the intermediate step. Camping in luxury with all the facilities to make life easy made the trip enjoyable. The kids loved it and it was a mozzie free area!!! Would recommend Britz – especially if they have a special going. (Date of experience: Jun, 2009 )

The van (Toyota Hiace with a Hi Top) itself was immaculate, well equipped (we even had a cheese grater), and laid out perfectly. We had a microwave, mini fridge, two gas burners, a medium sized sink with running water and ample storage space. I think it may have been bigger than many studio apartments in New York!
Overall, it was roomy for two people, we could both stand up inside and although slower than a typical car and with a full tank costing $70, it still definitely saved us some bucks rather than paying for two people in backpacker dorms as well as a car rental. Also, having the kitchen facilities inside the car (unlike the smaller campers with the gas cooker out the back – terrible in windy situations by the beach), it made it easy to make simple home-cooked healthy meals any time of the day. Apart from the administration nightmare, Britz is the way to go for a luxurious campervan experience!
We had no idea what to book for campervans, had no suggestions from others and since it was the busy season and relatively urgent, we pretty much blindly booked a vehicle a few months before our arrival with Britz. The administration and paperwork at the office was a nightmare at 8am and the company insisted that until you return your vehicle, they would charge a ridiculous $7500 on your credit card for excess liability. No where on the website or confirmation print out does it mention that little important fact, so beware of the large charge; unless you want to instead pay $40 /day additional insurance cost. A little shady on the Britz front since none the dozens of other people in the office that day picking up their cars had that much available credit and were coerced into that extra expense

Mum and I drove around in a manual campervan for 3 days in the outback of Australia! This van was awesome it had two beds, a sink, stove, microwave, and came fully equipped with all the necessities. So after watching the very informative video narrated by a pretty goonie man we get in the car and now after much practice in two automatic cars mum is off driving a manual camper on the left side of the road HA..I was laughing so hard for about the first hour..
