Review – Energi Motorhomes is aimed at the mid range campervan hire market. The lowest price per day starts in the $65 area and goes up from there. Don’t get disheartened by that though, you are going to get value for money.
Energi is another one of those campervan hire companies that doesn’t actually own their vehicles. They lease or sub hire them from another campervan hire company. You will be told exactly who owns the campervan and what brand it will be when you make a booking. This actually works in the favour of the consumer. If Energi Motorhomes decide that the campervan owner is letting the quality of the Energi brand down, they can simply move on to another campervan hire supplier. This keeps ongoing maintenance costs down and allows them to switch easily to the best value for money campervan hire supplier. It is in the best interest of Energi to make sure their vehicles are up to scratch, but this re-branding also explains why there are no close up photos of the exterior of the campervan on their webpage where someone else’s brand may be seen.
Energi vehicles are around 6 years old but can go up to 9 years old. They switch between Diesel and Petrol engines as well as switching between auto and manual (stick shift) – so they have something for everyone in that dept. However, they don’t have anything bigger than a 4 berth so if you want the maxi motorhome style, Energi Motorhomes can’t help with your campervan hire – or should I say Motorhome hire. The physical height and width is identical in all vehicles except the Super Economy which has less height inside than all the others by about 50cm (about 20 inches). This is because it is not a high top. Everything above super economy also has a fridge and a microwave, but the microwave is only usable if you connected to a power source (this will be the same for anyone who offers a microwave). The fridge will always work as it will draw from the house battery – not the engine battery – whilst you are parked. Whilst driving the engine will charge both house and car battery.
But when is anyone ever going to put in a stereo that can read from an iPod!!!! AM/FM radio and CD throughout fleet. Decent size water tank of 60L, some other campervan hire companies only have 30L and very cheap campervan hire companies only give you a water can. Built-in water tanks are much more convenient. Energi Motorhomes will supply a hose to be able to refill in from a tap (fawcett) and a 15 amp power cable for if you are connected to a powered site.
