I would rent from Travelwheels again.
Appalling!We hired a van for a 3 week trip – day one, van was covered in sawdust/dirt inside, I had to clean it all before we could sleep in it, plus the bed sheets they gave us were old and had cigarette burns in them and the chairs were ripped and broken. Day two, tried to use the cooker, it was broken, despite being assured it was all fixed and working before we left. Day three, the sat nav packed in! When we returned the van the staff were unhelpful and unprofessional. No apologies about the dirty van, the broken cooker and sat nav. But they took $400 from us for a small dent in the van! Avoid hiring from Travelwheels, they are not worth the headache- there are much better companies to hire from!
This is the absolute worst company to hire a campervan from! My boyfriend and I hired from this company to travel from Perth to Sydney. Upon calling the company, we were informed that the cost would be that of 29$ for the first 6 nights and then it would go up to the regular rate for the remaining days. We were also informed that the car was equipped with a mattress and a full camping kit. We were told to pick it up at 1p.m since they had to repair the windscreen. However, once we got there were had to wait at least an hour for the repairs to be done. There was also no mattress or camping kit which defeated the purpose of renting the campervan. We were also over charged 200$! Having been delayed for such a long period of time and having a long drive we took it. It was also dirty. The car was fine minus the missing mattress…we had to spend extra cash on motel rooms and food. Once we got to Sydney, we had been told to go to one address down town to drop off the vehicle, this however was the wrong address. We then spent 2hours trying to find it and finally being told an other address. Obviously furious with all the things we had to deal with we asked to speak to the manager who was unfriendly and unsympathetic to our cause and I quote: « you should try to stop looking at the negative in your life and move on». Wow great customer care. In the end we only received 100$ however that did not cover even half our additional cost for things that had been promised. I VERY strongly recommend to avoid this company at ALL cost!
We hired a 5 berth campervan for 3 weeks and we didn’t have any trouble. The vehicle had quite a lot of kilometers (230000) but was in a good shape. It was a former Britz van. For the price we paid, I think we couldn’t have better.
Almost identical to last post: we had a well-worn 230,000k former Britz 3-berth HiAce campervan for 3 weeks and 6000k (Darwin to Sydney) and had no trouble. The only problem was that instead of being available early on the first morning it was only available at noon, and then the cracked windshield had to be replaced, so we got away late, but the company cut our cost substantially to compensate. No complaints; excellent value for the low cost. Friendly helpful staff at both ends.
